PNG Department of Labour & Industrial Relations – NATTB Celebrates Top Apprentice at 2025 Awards

November 27, 2025

The National Apprenticeship and Trade Testing Board (NATTB), a statutory body under PNG’s Department of Labour and Industrial Relations, hosted its 2025 Apprentice & Trade Test Candidate of the Year Awards in Port Moresby, an important platform celebrating the nation’s future technical leaders.

The NATTB oversees the country’s Apprenticeship System, which provides four years of structured training, and the Trade Testing System, which certifies trade competency under the Apprenticeship and Trade Testing Act 1986.

Our Year 4 Technical Apprentice, young Francis Tote, participated in this year’s competition with strong guidance and support from the Ela Academy under the leadership of Ben Johnson & Learning & Development Team. Young Francis distinguished himself among his peers and was honored with the W.C. Gee Memorial Award for achieving the highest marks in technical theory through his project presentation and assessments at the gala event.

This accolade reflects Francis’ dedication to his indenture, his commitment to technical excellence, and his drive to continuously build his capability. He is set to complete his apprenticeship in January 2026, and we are confident he will continue to excel.

Ela Motors PNG continued investment in people development through Ela Academy remains an integral part of our business in building talent and leaders of tomorrow.
