Ela Motors Reinforces its CSR support for Salvation Army’s Adult Literacy Program

June 7, 2023

The Salvation Army received a donation of K31, 975.000 to fund the Adult Literacy Program operation from Ela Motors on Friday June 02nd in Port Moresby.

On behalf of the CEO of Ela Motors, Eymard Joseph was pleased to present the cheque and reiterated the company’s commitment to Salvation Army by doubling the sponsorship amount for this year. Mr. Joseph acknowledged that the program had produced incredible results by developing literacy and numeracy skills in adulthood, changing peoples’ lives and giving them a better ability to reach their full potential.

We are so happy to part-take in this program by giving back to the communities.

This funding will support the program’s operation to provide learners with a second chance to obtain a quality, officially recognized and comprehensive education for people with low or no literacy skills. Since its inception in 2022, the program has achieved remarkable results, which saw a total of 200 learners from Morota, Hohola, Kaugere, and Koki complete the program, most of whom were adults and children.

Through flexible learning between the students and teachers, learners have acquired essential reading and writing skills with an officially certified certificate after completing the program.  The Territorial Literacy Coordinator, Kingsley Koni, expressed his sincere thanks to Ela Motors for supporting this worthy course.

We are forever grateful to Ela Motors for giving our people a second chance in life, to be able to read and write for the first

time.

The organization’s mission is to support and promote adult and inclusive literacy education by creating a learning environment for learners.
